It's a Mad Mad Mad world

Ok so everyone has heard so far that a certain cheder rebbe who has been involved in chinuch for so many years has been arrested for child endangerment. ok and he was home for shabbos after posting $10,000 bail and surrendering his passport. Oh and the esteemed Yeshiva where he used to teach has been hit with another multi-million dollar lawsuit for failure to protect the child in the case.
I want to know the answer to one question, Now what? Are the "Gedolim" going to wake up and realize something that even Ohel has been trying to raise awareness since it's inception. Unfortunately our generation has very few real outside predators like our grandparents did, we abuse ourselves, our children, our spouses, our money, everything.
We have become a disposable society that if you do not like something, throw it away and get a new one. Married? Hate your spouse? get a divorce! costs a bit of money but so easily done.
Don't like your kids anymore, too difficult for you to handle them? put them up for adoption or give them to Hamaspik or Ohel to send to foster homes.
We are always so busy with the newest fad, clothing styles, latest Fried, Chevra or Shweky CD or concert, that we forget what and who we are.
We are an Am Kadosh. We must take a look at ourselves, why was an entire community like Monsey (Formerly known as Monsey Ir Hakodesh), a place where the Chofetz Chaim Foundation is located, and so many other Mosdos Chesed, was nichshal in this past summer's fiasco with the treife meat?
We are all so ready to rip down an Eruv and burn Sheitels and kasher our kitchens and claim it's leshaim Shemayim but how many of us have sat down and asked ourselves, how have I improved my relationship with my Creator, my spouse, my children, my neighbor, my parents, my siblings ect...
Yes it is almost Chanukah and watching how the goyim are going crazy buying things for their Chugah, where in Shulchan Aruch does it say we are to give gifts on chanukah? By continuously bringing into our communities their culture and custums? what makes our communities a community? do we all follow the same rabonim? follow the same minhagim? you are lucky to find 3 families in the same apartment building that buy food with the same hechsherim. maybe it is time we revert back to the time when you had maybe 100 families in a community with one rov and maybe 2 shuls?

Welcome Home?

I think that blogging is an interesting fad that has become a staple of so many people's lives these days.
You have so many blogs that people just tell you about the mundane facts of their lives and how they deal with it and others that like to spread rumors just so they get hits and maybe get mentioned on national TV or radio or even mentioned in a newspaper.
It might just be a very cheap way of therapy for some, to rant and rave and express themselves in a venue that they could not afford or be embarresed to go on an "open mike night" at the local Karioke bar.
I see blogging as a way to relive a little boredom but that is something no one should have, as the saying goes "idle hands do the devils work".
As I am jewish I will occaionally rant about some nonsense affecting the jewish world like are religious jews really boycotting ELAL because they flew on shabbos? I mean come on we are jews and will fly on any airline that gives us cheap tickets to Israel (remember Tower Air?).
Anyways, living in Brooklyn and having lived most of my life in other places helps me reflect and see how crazy it is to live here jewish or not. Sometimes it leads to anti-semitism or hatred for stupid people which Brooklyn (if not New York) has more than it's fair share.
One example of my anti- jewish and anti stupid people is this:
driving in traffic is no fun especially when school is getting out and the buses are charging about like drunken saliors during fleet week, so I am driving down an avenue and a firetruck coimes racing from behind me, ok no problem I pull over as do the 3 cars in front of , then an ambulance with lights on is double parked with the medics running into a build on a call, across the street you got school buses double parked as well , no one can go down the block then a complete shmuck driving a belzer talmid torah bus comes and make a turn on the avenue blocking traffic from all directions and he claims "I have the right of way now move your car so I can go", I politely tell him to %$# himself and call the cops who inturn took his plate number but will never do anything cause we all know the cops hate the jews almost as much as they hate the blacks but are afraid of them cause all the jews have friends in the dept.
anyway thankfully the ambulance moved and I got home in time to make the cholent for shabbos so all ends well except I would love to have taken a baseball bat to that jerk's head but would never have done it.

Oh viosizneis is back up and running, I wonder if the Gerer Rebbe sent his goons out to cyber hack the site and beat up Shloma Shamas, now we can all get our fix of daily yiddish news that the Hamodia does not print
